Rod Spence is a screenwriter who created Hallmark Channel's The Good Witch film series and its characters.
Bio[]
Rod Spence is the co-writer of all three “Good Witch” movies for the Hallmark Channel. Born and raised in the Midwest, Spence has traveled around the world as a freelance mechanical designer while pursing a writing career. He loves writing family-friendly stories and has two scripts currently in development, one a feature film and one a television movie. His hobbies include art collecting and travel. Spence is looking forward to relocating to Los Angeles which has already become his second home.[1]

- Despite creating the characters of The Good Witch franchise, he has only written two of the seven original films and is not involved in the television series.
- The legend of the Grey Lady of Grey House is inspired by the Grey Lady said to haunt Willard Library in Spence's hometown Evansville, IN.[3]
- With the success of The Good Witch, a 2008 Hallmark Channel movie, Rod Spence quit mechanical design to become a full-time screenwriter in the Writers Guild of America.[4]
- A lot of his inspiration comes from everything in his life and growing up in Evansville.[5]
